The mobile app needs your own server

The iOS and Android apps are clients. They do not hold an account of their own and there is nothing to sign up for inside them: on first launch they ask for the address of an Oikonome server and then sign you in to it. That server is either one you run yourself or a hosted one we run for you.

• Self-hosting — one command on your own machine. See the quick start; the app then points at your address (for example https://money.example.com).
• Hosted — currently a private beta. Write to us at the address above if you would like in.

If the app says it cannot reach your server, check that the address is reachable from your phone's network and that it is served over HTTPS.

Your account and your data

• Sign a device out — in the app or the web app: Settings → Security → Sessions & devices, then revoke the device. A revoked device has to sign in again from scratch.
• Export everything — Settings → Your data → Export. One ZIP of plain CSVs with a README that explains every file. It restores into any other Oikonome instance, so moving between self-hosted and hosted is a ten-minute job.
• Delete your account — Settings → Security → Delete account. Deletion is recoverable for a short grace period and then permanent.

Reporting a security problem

Please report vulnerabilities privately to [email protected] rather than in a public issue, and give us a reasonable window to fix the problem before disclosing it. We will confirm receipt and keep you posted on the fix.

Every feature has a guide inside the app under Help — the same guides ship with the source, so they always match the version you are running. The source repository carries the install, upgrade, backup and reverse-proxy documentation.

Terms

The hosted service's terms and privacy policy apply. Self-hosted instances are yours: the software is licensed to you, and no data reaches us.
